Chromosomal Aneuploidy in Azoospermic Men
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence of chromosome abnormalities in patients with azoospermia, in our material. Preoperative evaluation included routine andrological investigations with 2 semen analysis, ultrasound, hormonal and genetic examinations. In the last three years, 73 biopsies were performed for testicular sperm extraction in 71 patients. Non-obstructive azoospermia was diagnosed in 53 patients (79%). Karyotyping was performed on lymphocyte preparations of 36 men with diagnosis of infertility. In order to obtain exact diagnosis, cytogenetic methods (QFQ-, GTG-, CBG-band and FISH analysis) were complemented with molecular genetic techniques. Patients were included in the assisted reproduction programme on the base of their genetic results. The most characteristic cases were sex numerical deviations, such as XXY (3 cases), XYY (2 cases) and mosaic X0

متن کاملFISH analysis of chromosome X, Y and 18 abnormalities in testicular sperm from azoospermic patients.
BACKGROUND Sperm extracted from testicular biopsies of azoospermic men can successfully be used for ICSI. The concern exists that testicular sperm from azoospermic men suffering from severe testicular failure may have a higher frequency of aneuploidy, which may lead to an increased risk for chromosomally abnormal offspring. METHODS Testicular sperm from patients showing spermatogenic failure ...

متن کاملImpact of DNA Damage on the Frequency of Sperm Chromosomal Aneuploidy in Normal and Subfertile Men
Background: Various frequencies of sperm aneuploidy are reported in sperms of subfertile patients compared to normal individuals. Moreover, sperm DNA damage is shown to be associated with male infertility. In this study, the rate of DNA damage and frequencies of aneuploidy in sperms of subfertile patients was investigated. Methods: Semen samples were obtained from healthy normal and subfertile ...
متن کاملI-37: Genome Instability and DNA Damage in Male Somatic and Germ Cells Expressed as Chromosomal Microdeletion and Aneuploidy Is A Major Cause of Male Infertility
Background: Sperm chromatin insufficiencies leading to low sperm count and quality, infertility and transmission of chromosomal microdeletion and aneuploidies to next generations can be due to exposure to environmental pollutions, chemicals and natural or manmade ionizing radiation. In this project which has continued for more than 10 years and is unique in many technical aspects in Iran and in...
متن کاملRe: The prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities in subgroups of infertile men.
BACKGROUND The prevalence of chromosomal abnormalities is assumed to be higher in infertile men and inversely correlated with sperm concentration. Although guidelines advise karyotyping infertile men, karyotyping is costly, therefore it would be of benefit to identify men with the highest risk of chromosomal abnormalities, possibly by using parameters other than sperm concentration. The aim of ...
